Prior to her retirement in 1999, Anna taught English at the University of Cincinnati-Clermont for eighteen years.

The Boy Actors of the Late 16th Century” “An Aery of children” (Hamlet Act II, Scene 1, Line 339) Anna K. Carey, PhD, will share with us her enthusiasm for the children’s drama of Marlowe, Marston, and Chapman. Our speaker is well versed in Renaissance drama, and is particularly interested in the children’s acting companies of the late 16th century.

Britain and the USA: Contrasts & Synergies in Current Relations”

In his talk Mr. Bennett looks at the differences and similarities between how the U.S. and British political and governmental systems work including recent innovations in Britain which have adopted US practice.  Mr. Bennett looks at the state of the ‘Special Relationship’ between the US and Britain in the light of the Obama Administration declaration of a ‘Pacific Presidency’, the challenges facing both countries in tackling government debt and in moving towards disengagement in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Walter Hines Page Scholar from England

March 8th will be the Page Scholar, Caroline Godin.  She is from Holmfirth, West Yorkshire and teaches at Crosland Moor Children’s school.  While here in the U.S. Ms. Godin will be researching the Early Years of education for children.  In particular what constitutes a high quality environment and how this impacts the outcomes for children.
